Jacqueline Fernandez grew up in Bahrain, Manama. She is Sri Lankan and comes from a diverse ethnic background. Her father Elroy Fernandez hails of Sri Lanka (Sinhalese - Catholic)and her mother Kim is a Malaysian. She has two brothers and an older sister. Due to the conflict in Lanka that her parents decided to move to Bahrain. In Australia she pursued a degree in Media and Communications at University of Sydney following her graduation from Bahrain. To enhance her passion for cultures, languages and other languages she enrolled in the Berlitz schools of languages in order to study Spanish and also improve her French as well as Arabic. Miss Sri Lanka 2006 won Miss Universe 2006 competition in March of 2006, and later competed as Miss Universe 2006 also. In 2006, she took home her the Miss Sri Lanka title. After that, she went on television as a host of a program on Sri Lankan business named Lanka Business Report. Padukone is the daughter of the famous badminton player Prakash Padukone. She was raised in Bangalore and born in Copenhagen. When she was a teen, Padukone competed in a variety of national badminton tournaments. She eventually gave up the sport when she decided to become a fashion model. Padukone was born in Mangalore, India. Her mother tongue Konkani is her origin. Padukone, a village within the Kundapura Taluk located in Udupi in Karnataka State in India is where her family comes from. The father of her, Prakash Padukone, is a retired badminton player of world-class fame, while her mother works as a travel agent.
